Rhona – Lead Community Chef

Rhona has recently joined the team as the Lead Community Chef. Prior to this, for the last 3 years, Rhona ran a community store in the Southside of Glasgow selling locally grown produce and environmentally conscious goods with the aim to educate people on local food systems and how they can reduce their impact on the planet. Rhona also organized and facilitated events within the space such as community meals, community cinema nights and clothes repair workshops. These were always free or pay-what-you-can to ensure they were inclusive and accessible, which she feels is essential to have a real impact within the community. Throughout her time running the store Rhona created connections with many local families and felt strongly embedded within the community, she’s now looking forwards to making new connections with PEEK families and within the local areas.

Rhona passionately believes good quality food should be accessible to all and is excited to begin her role at PEEK teaching families how to cook delicious and nutritious meals while making sure they build positive relationships and memories around food. Food is a way of connecting with others and sharing different cultures and Rhona is excited to run participant-led sessions where PEEK families feel included and that their backgrounds and knowledge influence the activities taking place.
