PEEK Partner with Morgan Stanley for the Next Five Years to Support Families Impacted by Poverty

by PEEK Project 26th February 2024

We are thrilled to announce that we have partnered with Morgan Stanley for the next five years to support our four main programmes: Play, Create, Thrive and Wellbeing.

As we know, the effects of the COVID-19 and ongoing cost of living crisis are throwing families into deeper poverty. The latest reports tell us that 1 in 3 children in Glasgow are living in poverty, with as many as 1 in 2 in some communities PEEK supports.

With Thriving Futures, we can carry out our mission to support families impacted by poverty. Annually we will support children, young people and families in Glasgow through this partnership.

Why Morgan Stanley?

Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm providing a wide range of investment banking, securities, wealth management and investment management services.

PEEK has worked alongside Morgan Stanley since 2017 in Sighthill, an area close to their Glasgow office.

Over the last six years, the Sighthill area has undergone significant regeneration. This has resulted in new housing, including social, mid-market and private housing and a new school campus home to St. Martin’s Primary School and Nursery.

Our partnership has evolved due to the leadership of St Martin’s Primary School, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis. Together, we have provided 56,000 healthy meals, 23,000 hours of play, and 100 cookery classes.

Employees from Morgan Stanley have also volunteered their time to help deliver our holiday programmes, donating over 1,000 hours to date.

What’s next?

As the effects of poverty become more severe for families who were already facing financial difficulties before 2020, the rate of persistent poverty grows. The Calton Ward in Glasgow has the highest rate of persistent poverty at 21%, referring to a household that has been living in poverty for at least three out of the last four years.

PEEK and Morgan Stanley are committed to working in the areas, of Calton, Gallowgate and Sighthill.

Over the next 5 years, the Thriving Futures project will support families to have improved relationships and connections, improved wellbeing and improved life chances.

Together, we will work towards building thriving futures for our communities.
