Vicky Fox, 22 - Senior Play Ranger
WARNING: Parts of my PEEK story may contain extreme cheesiness.
I began attending PEEK in the Gallowgate area when I was 8 years old as a child participant, I enjoyed coming along to the different activities PEEK had on offer but most of all I enjoyed the relationships I had built with the PEEK Staff Team.
I came through the children’s programme and when it was time moved into Youth. At the age of 15 PEEK gave me the opportunity to complete my Duke of Edinburgh bronze award. Part of my Duke of Edinburgh award involved completing a service as a Volunteer. I of course chose PEEK. Little did I know then that this would lead to where I’m at today.
My PEEKexperience as a child/young person/volunteer genuinely changed my life for the better as before PEEK I had no confidence, low self-esteem and no aspirations in life, but with years of encouragement and endless opportunities PEEK turned all of this around for me.
My adventure at PEEK went from Volunteer - Project Scotland Volunteer - Trainee Play Assistant - Play Assistant - Play Ranger and now at the age of 22 I am one of 2 Senior Play Rangers at PEEK managing a team of 4 Play Rangers and 2 Active Play Rangers. (Never in a million years did I think I’d get this far and so quickly as well)
The difference PEEK made in my life makes me so much more determined to do the same for the children and young people who attend PEEK services now.
PEEK is the reason I and many others smile every day. “You know it’s true what they say... A taste of PEEK a day can keep the doctor away”
P.s my favourite games to play are: Capture the flag, Bat and Moth and tree climbing and everything else fun.
PEEK ~ Where possibilities are endless ❤
